And so here we stand at the brink of another new year. What is in store for us on this new path, only our Heavenly Father knows. Yes, He knows, for He has lovingly and wisely designed each and every detail, from before the beginning of time.
We do not know what lies ahead of us: this is not for us to know. It is enough to know that He will guide; He carefully reveals every bend in the path at just the right time, giving just enough light for each new step of the way. Sometimes there is no light, and thick darkness enshrouds us-- but it is then, and only then, that we come to know more fully the loving clasp of the Hand that holds... the stong embrace of the Arms that bear.
So put your hand in His, and let us step out-- not tentatively, with fear; but boldly, with the confidence of faith. For although we know not what awaits us in this new year, we do know for certain that He is there. And because of that, I know that whatever we encounter in 2009-- be it joy, sorrow, pleasure, pain, life, or death-- it will be good, for He has planned it all.
"I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
'Give me a light, that I may tread safely into the unknown.'
And he replied:
'Go out into the darkness and put your hand
'Give me a light, that I may tread safely into the unknown.'
And he replied:
'Go out into the darkness and put your hand
into the hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and
That shall be to you better than light and
safer than a known way.'"

This post puts me in mind of Christian in Pilgrim's Progress. Particularly when he is afraid of the lions up ahead which (when viewed close up) turn out to be chained off to the sides of the path.
It is all about trusting Him. Beautiful post!
Amen! This is so beautifully put. And yes, even through the dark times God will always shine His light.
I love your new picture- it is SOO cute.
Love you!

Happy New Year Beka!
I pray that this year brings you peace. I know what it's like to not know what lies beyond the bend in life. It's very easy to doubt God. Sometimes, you do eventually see what God is doing and it does restores your faith. But sometimes God chooses not to reveal what he is doing. I confess at those times I have been overcome with anxiety. Don't forget your friends during this time. A burden is much easier to carry when someone is along side of you.
Thank you, dear sister for this hope and reminder of the goodness of our God. It is what my heart needed to hear.

I pray that you will both grow more into the likeness of our beautiful Saviour as you walk with Him this year. Much love, Rebeca
Thinking of you this Christmas---so glad to see a new post :) Thanks for your book suggestions at my blog--I'll be sure to check them out!
Luke 8:15 Good seed, good soil, and yet still the emphasis on the need for perservering faith.
Praise God for the grace and mercy He has shown you, as He reveals these truths to you. Onward!
Love it!
My heart rests with your words... how peaceful to think- no, to know - that He has planned it all already. Which also means, of course, He would hold our hand as we walk through it all... Love you, sweet friends.
I love your new picture Beka!!!
I like that post, Beka. A pretty award for you at my place ~
Praying for you in this new year as you continue your walk with the Lord. May He pour out many blessings on you.
